Winifred "Winnie" Julia (Wittenbrook) Kothera

WINIFRED “WINNIE” JULIA KOTHERA

Winifred “Winnie” Julia Kothera, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away, May 22, 2020 and now rests in peace.  Born December 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Luetta Wittenbrook .

Preceding Winnie in death are her husband, Charles Kothera; sons, Ray and Thomas Kothera; sisters, Fancies Yonker and Ruth Ford; grandson, Darrin Shepherd.

Winnie’s memory will forever live in the hearts of those who survive; daughter, Linda (Dave) Shepherd of Bethesda; grandchildren, Karen, Kristen, Lydia, Kendra; ten great-grandchildren; and many, whose lives she touched.

An artistic individual, Winnie loved to create many beautiful things and did so through her talent as an excellent seamstress.  She was a lifetime member and former president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Bethesda, loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers.  She enjoyed overseeing the acolytes at Belmont Methodist Church.  Winnie’s most precious treasure was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  And to each of them, she was priceless.

Family and friends are invited for visitation, Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 11:00 am until the time of service, which will begin at 1:00 pm, Patron Funeral Homes & Crematory Kelly Kemp Braido, 322 N. Main Street, Bethesda.  Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.  We would like to remind all in attendance, to please remember to continue the guidelines of social distancing.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Winnie’s name to the Walton Home, 1254 E. Main Street, Barnesville, Ohio 43719.

A very special and heartwarming  thank you to all care givers at the Walton Home, whose love for Winnie and her family during this time was a blessing.  Special thanks to Hospice of Guernsey for their dedication and care given to Winnie.
