Wilma Jean Grimes, 85, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on January 21, 2023. She was born on January 15, 1938 in Bethesda, a daughter of the late Edgar and Gail (Heskett) Mayberry.
Wilma Jean was a vibrant community activist. She directed the Barnesville Youth Soccer Program, organized the Traveling Community Arts service connecting artists to businesses, and ran the summer concert series in Barnesville for over 30 years. She sang on the church choir and loved to ballroom and square dance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Grimes and two brothers, Clinton and Harold Mayberry.
Wilma was survived by her son, John (Crystal) Grimes; grandchildren, Shane (Chelsea) Grimes, Kody (Allison) Grimes, Katlin (Madison) Grimes and Zach (Cameron) Rice; great-grandchildren, Jude, Zoey, Iris, Kyla, Grayson, Kendall, Kellan and Vinny.
Friends and family are encouraged to visit on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 1-3pm and 5-7pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, Barnesville Chapel, 702 East Main St., Barnesville, Ohio 43713. A private burial at Ebenezer Cemetery will follow the next day.
