Violet Lee (Banister) Green

Violet Lee Banister Green, 88, of Tiltonsville, Ohio, died May 23rd, 2022, in St. Clairsville, Ohio.  

       She was born August 9, 1933, in Wheeling, West Virginia, the daughter of Rev. Joseph S. and Mary (McConaughey) Banister.  She graduated from Bridgeport, High School in 1952.  In 2005, she married Robert Green, in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

       Violet worked in the dietary department of Martins Ferry Hospital for 28 years.  She also spent a lot of her time, throughout the years, volunteering in her church and area nursing homes.  Violet was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for almost 60 years.  She worked her way through the chairs and served as Worthy Matron.

      Violet was a long-time member of the Tiltonsville United Methodist Church.  She was a huge fan of Buckeye Local high school football, often attending games.  She was also a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.  She was an avid bowler.  She was also known for her crafting: crocheting, beading, and making table favors for parties and dinners.  She was a generous, doting aunt and friend to all.

      Violet is survived by a sister, Marguerite Ratliff, of Mascoutah, Illinois; four nieces: Peggy Ratliff, of Griggsville, Illinois, Diane Blaylock (Mike), of O'Fallon, Illinois, Danette Barttelbort (Kent), of Mascoutah, Illinois, Wendy Banister (Amber Fredrickson), of Perry, Kansas, and one nephew, Joseph Banister (Janel), of Fargo, North Dakota; four great nieces, three great-great nieces, and four great-great nephews.  She will be greatly missed by her close friends, Audrey, and Sam Rubright, as well as many in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Anna Florence Banister, and two brothers: Alfred Banister, of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Joseph Banister, of Jamestown, North Dakota. 

  Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 103 Main Street Tiltonsville on Friday May 27, 2022, from 5-8 pm, where services will be held on Saturday at 10am with Paster Kevin Daugherty officiating, interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Wheeling.
