Ronald G. Lane, 84, of Piedmont, Ohio passed away March 27, 2023. He was born on May 6, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Samuel G. Lane and Mary E. (Burdette) Lane.
Ronald worked for East Ohio Gas Co. and Morton Salt Co. in the 50s and 60s. He then retired after working mostly as a welder for over 30 years at coal companies, Consol Cravat and Valley Mining. He earned the moniker, “Big Iron” while working on heavy equipment of various big shovels.
He was a storyteller and a jack of all trades. He loved fabricating specialty items at home like fences, gates, flag poles, yard ornaments, statues, flower carts, outdoor bells and more.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by two daughters, Debby Brownfield and Ronda Lane; and a brother, William Lane.
He is survived by his wife Sharon C. (Ballard) Lane; daughter, Lois (Mark) Unger; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer, James, Ricky, Joseph, Brian, Daniel, Nate and 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way; and two brothers, Richard (Alice) Lane and Philip (Brenda) Lane.
