Leroy A. Houser Jr., 67, a well-respected tradesman and longtime resident of Beallsville, died suddenly on November 16, 2023. He was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on October 7, 1956 to Leroy Sr. and the late Irene Houser.
Leroy is survived immediately by his son, Zachary, as well as an extended family across the country.
As a young boy he would find a passion for football and went so far as to Letter on his junior varsity team at Elizabeth Forward High School. He also served time in the armed forces as a Marine, Private First Class. Though brief, the Marine Corps taught him unforgettable lessons and discipline that he would come to use throughout his life. Leroy was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed building more than anything. He could visualize, draft, and construct an entire house from first nail to last, simply by seeing it in his mind. Aged 32, he met and married his only wife Carol Houser, to whom he had his son, Zach. Leroy moved to Beallsville in the early 2010's, where he came to make keen friendships and a lasting impression on the community. In July of this year, Leroy embarked on his final adventure to visit his son in Germany, of which he spoke greatly. Leroy had a warrior's spirit. Despite a life of adversity, he never gave up. "Keep swingin' and duckin'" was often his motto of choice when giving advice. He died proud, loved, and unburdened.
A funeral service for Leroy will not be held per his wishes, however, interment at Beallsville Cemetery will commence in good time. Those who wish to a make monetary donation in his memory may send to Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Bridgeport, Ohio 43912.
