Judy Gatten Obituary

JUDY E. GATTEN

After her courageous battle with cancer, Judy E. Gatten, 73, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Judy’s parents, the late Paul and Mary Gatten lovingly welcomed her into the family December 17, 1946 in Speidel, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Cochran and Nancy Cunard and brother, Bernard Gatten.

Judy’s memory will forever be cherished by those who survive; her loving children; daughters, Jackie Phillips (Greg) of Freeport, Julie Yeater (Jerry) of New Athens, Jolene Carpenter (Dominic) of Centerburg; son, J.R. Yeater (Jamie) of Westerville; the twinkle in her eyes; grandchildren, Ryan and Jessi Phillips, Robby and Ellie Johnen, Preston and Peyton Yeater, Delanie Carpenter; and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Haiden Deramo; sister, Gloria Hoskinson of Massillon; brother, John Gatten of Hendrysburg; special companion, Doug Depew; and her trusted friend and puppy, Sadie Mae.

Growing up in Bethesda, one of six children, Judy realized early on the importance of taking care of each other and always being there for one another.  Even when experiencing difficult times, the bond between siblings was the glue that held them together.  Judy was a hard worker, always keeping busy.  Judy’s compassion for others, led her to work and retire from the New York State School or the Blind. She was a great cook and had a zest for life, enjoying every day with remarkable enthusiasm.
