JOHN MORGAN TURVEY, JR.

John Morgan Turvey, Jr., of Belmont, Ohio, passed away January 6, 2022, at the age of 74. He was born to the late John Morgan and Evelyn J. (Ryan) Turvey, Sr., April19, 1947 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Together with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Turvey McGinnis.

John was an avid NASCAR and drag racing fan and enjoyed football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was a kindhearted man with great strength, and a true cat lover.

John is survived by his loving companion of 18 years, Normie Rockwell; step-son, Derrick (Lisa) McLaughlin; step-daughters, Chastity Roe, Aleshia Bumgardner, Stephanie (Jason) Craven; son, Shawn Turvey; step- grandchildren, Jonathan and Tyler McLaughlin, Annessia (Michael) Turney, Alauna Butler, Aaliyah Roe, Alarik Ornsparre, Conner Cunningham; step-great-grandchildren, Raylee, Joanie, and Kokton Turney; extended family, Keith Reed, Deborah Reed and son, Christopher, Roseanna (Jonathan) Wilkinson and his daughter, Eleanor, Hannah Rockwell and children, Samuel, Zemirah, and Hezekiah Sharp, Ezekiel (Samantha) Rockwell; nieces and nephews, Reverend Charles McGinnis, Jr., Missi (Ron) Magers, Cheri Taggart; and his feline family, Ginger, Grayscale, Monochrome, Cricket, Bear, Polly, and Kit.

In keeping with the wishes of John, there will be no visitation or service and interment will take place at the convenience of his family. A cause near and dear to John’s heart was the care and placement of homeless cats. In John’s memory, please consider donating to Back Street Cat Rescue.
