Howard J. “Jimbo” Porter Sr. 76 of Bridgeport passed away Friday September 30, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital Morgantown surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 5, 1946, in Martins Ferry, a son of the late Paul and Hattie (Minor) Porter.
He was retired Maintenance Superintendent for the Bridgeport School System, a veteran in the US Amy, and a lifetime member of the Bridgeport Fire Dept. Jimbo also was a Cincinnati Bengal fan, he loved NACAR racing especially Dale Earnhardt, and an Ohio State Buckeye fan. He also was an avid Bowler, a former Bridgeport Village council member, and a member of the Ohio Valley Hog Group.
In addition to his parents Jimbo was preceded in death by two sons Paul and Tim Porter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Louise (Lollathin) Porter, his son Howard “Jim” Porter Jr. and his wife Ashley of Shadyside, siblings Richard “Dick” (Charlette) Porter of Lansing, Pat Lekanidis of Wheeling, Charles “Buck” (Loretta) Porter of Wheeling, Robert (Carol) Porter of Columbus, John (Sue) Porter of Bridgeport, Dave Porter of Wheeling, and Ed Porter of Bridgeport, two grandsons Preston and Evean Porter, and a great granddaughter Evelyn Grace Porter, also many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home 920 National Road Brookside on Thursday October 6, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where services will be held on Friday at 11 am with Rev. James Hoff officiating, full military services will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association at the Funeral Home prior to the service.
